My mother sent these two Sara Teasdale poems, “At Night,” and “Send Me Your Stars,” to my father in a handwritten letter in 1939. She was 24, and the letter was sent about three months before they were married. She copied the poems by hand and accidentally transposed a couple of words. I’ve set them as she copied them. My father was an astronomer and so my mom selected poems with allusions to stars, moonlight, the sky, and so on.
